Analyzing Interdisciplinary Research Using Co-Authorship Networks

چکیده
With the advancement of scientific collaboration in 20th century, researchers started collaborating many research areas. Researchers and scientists no longer remain solitary individuals; instead, they collaborate to advance fundamental understandings topics. Various bibliometric methods are used quantify among communities. Among these different methods, co-authorship method is one most verifiable or analyze collaboration. In this research, initial study has been conducted interdisciplinary (IDR) activities computer science domain. The ACM classified fields. We selected Journal Universal Computer Science (J.UCS) for experimentation purposes. J.UCS first that addresses a complete topic. Using data, network researcher up 2nd level was developed. Then analyzed find Additionally, results also visualized comprehend categories. A whole working web-based system developed, forced directed graph technique implemented understand IDR trends Finally, values between categories computed It found “Artificial Intelligence” “Information Storage Retrieval”, “Natural Language Processing Information “Human-Computer Interface” “Database Applications” were overlapping areas by acquiring an score 0.879, 0.711, 0.663, respectively.

Measuring interdisciplinary research: analysis of co-authorship for research staff at the University of York
Collaboration allows researchers to combine the strength of different disciplines to undertake research that neither could do individually. Scientific collaboration can be examined by analysing patterns of co-authorship of papers in publication databases (e.g. Web of Science) using methods from Social Network Analysis. In this project, I describe three networks consisting of researchers in the ...
متن کاملScientific co-authorship networks
The paper addresses the stability of the co-authorship networks in time. The analysis is done on the networks of Slovenian researchers in two time periods (1991-2000 and 2001-2010). Two researchers are linked if they published at least one scientific bibliographic unit in a given time period. As proposed by Kronegger et al. (2011), the global network structures are examined by generalized block...
متن کاملCo-authorship networks in the digital library research community
The field of digital libraries (DLs) coalesced in 1994: the first digital library conferences were held that year, awareness of the World Wide Web was accelerating, and the National Science Foundation awarded $24 Million (U.S.) for the Digital Library Initiative (DLI). In this paper we examine the state of the DL domain after a decade of activity by applying social network analysis to the co-au...
متن کاملLotka’ s Law, Co-authorship and Interdisciplinary Publishing
The robustness or breakdown of Lotka’s law about the frequency distribution of scientific productivity depends on scientific cooperation, counting methods, interdisciplinary publishing and selection methods for sample collections. We have chosen to analyse the relationship using Mandelbrot’s equivalent distribution model because this model is sensitive and uses the original data (scores). Five ...
متن کاملOn Spectral Partitioning of Co-authorship Networks
Abstract. Spectral partitioning is a well known method in the area of graph and matrix analysis. Several approaches based on spectral partitioning and spectral clustering were used to detect structures in real world networks and databases. In this paper, we explore two community detection approaches based on the spectral partitioning to analyze a coauthorship network. The partitioning exploits ...
